MDA Rail have secured new contracts throughout the LNW & LNE South routes. We have several opportunities for SPICOP & PICOP across all routes.
Act as COSS OLP/CRP, Engineering Supervisor,Level Crossing Attendant, Points Operator, Possession Support as and when required. when not performing SPICOP & PICOP duties.
To brief and maintain excellent communications with Engineering Supervisors, Protection staff and drivers of Engineers Trains and On-Track Machines, Signallers, NR Control, ECR.
Must be willing to develop presentation and effective speaking skills in order to deliver briefing at pre possession meetings to a large number of people.
Ensure all Life Saving Rules are adhered to.
Ensure the safe movements of On Track Plant & Trains as and when required.
Monitor possession activity progress, keeping real time records and report details to Route Controls, and MDA Rail Operations Managers.
Arrange for Temporary/Emergency/Speed Restriction boards, magnets to be positioned as directed.
May be required to undertake On-Call as determined by the needs of the business. Check staff certificates are in date for validation and report expiry dates to line management. This position is predominantly night work, including weekends. Produce, brief and distribute Safe System of Work packs (SSOWP) as and when required as part of your duties.
Safety responsibilities:
As a SPICOP you will be responsible for the staff under your management or control ensuring they work safely and comply with all current and relevant rail health, safety and environmental legislation including Railway Group and Line Standards.
Ensure that you and the staff and sub-contractors under your management or control, assess and control risks, plan and implement safe methods of working and are competent to carry out the task.
Responsible for safe control of multiple train movements, propelled or drawn To authorise the setting up of worksite(s) and associated arrangements for level crossings.
To take a lead role in safety planning of the possession and attendance at planning meetings for such both within the office environment and on site.
To ensure own specific, detailed knowledge of the possession area, signalling system applying and access arrangements.
To attend possession planning meetings and record all relevant data which could impact on the safe delivery of the possession arrangements.
To ensure all resource materials necessary for the possession are obtained prior to the implementation of the plan.
To communicate clearly with Network Rail, train operating companies, engineering supervisors and other such persons necessary for the safe application of the possession arrangements.
Ensure that accidents, incidents or near misses to you or staff under your control are reported to Route Control, and to your MDA Rail Operations Delivery Manager and that the Accident Book is filled in promptly
Ensure the safety of passengers, the general public and the environment is not affected by the activities of you, your staff and contractors under your control.
Ensure you participate in the Company safety briefings, workshops and meetings when and as required.
Be aware of the relevance and importance of activities which you, or those working under your direction are required to undertake and how these contribute to achievement of the company HSQE policies and business objectives.
