A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Rail Structures Engineer to join their team in London. In this role, you will support their design team in delivering projects within the Rail and Civil Structures sector. You will be required to produce and assist in the production of detailed designs, drawings, design reports and associated documentation for multi-disciplinary projects. The projects will involve working with clients such as Network Rail and various Railway Contractors, and therefore strong experience in bridge loading to Eurocodes is required.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Providing a comprehensive design and advisory service focused on meeting the engineering challenges involved in servicing the infrastructure requirements of renewal, enhancement, and turnkey projects.
• Working across all types of railway systems and our clients range from local developers through to international contractors working for public sector bodies.
• Liaise and communicate with clients and external agencies i.e. Network Rail, Environment Agency, Regional Highway Authorities and Sewerage authorities etc.
• Overseeing the preparation of drawings by technicians.
• Preparation of structural reports on buildings and other structures.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Pursuing Chartership.
• Minimum of five years experience in the design of civils infrastructure in a rail environment including the application of Network Rail (NR) standards where appropriate, element design and detailing to Eurocodes in a NR environment.
• Strong IT skills and be fully conversant with our industry standard design software packages such as Tedds and STAAD
• Experience of co-ordinating and delivering designs for rail and broad civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and how it is applied.
