Job Purpose:

Performing System Engineering activities for the development of safety-related and safety-critical signalling system products.

Key Duties:

System Engineers in Research & Development are responsible for all, or a selection of, the following:

* Requirements Capture
* Requirements Analysis
* Test facilities high level design
* System test objectives setting and test scenario generation
* Responsible for participating in configuration management and control
* Review and inspection of similar work performed by other engineers or external suppliers
* Role to be carried out in accordance with in-house standards and procedures
* Use of software-oriented toolsets such as DOORS and Artisan RTS may be required
* Post holder will execute agreed plans and inform Project Leader of status and progress at pre-agreed intervals

Essential Requirements:

* Formal qualification in a relevant engineering, scientific or numerate discipline
* Minimum of 3 years experience in system engineering or design of real-time embedded systems and/or test environments
* Knowledge of whole life-cycle, cost awareness and awareness of processes involved in other engineering disciplines
* Knowledge of relevant external quality and safety standards
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Dependable and self-reliant
