Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britains railway. Were making rail safer, more reliable and more efficient than ever. Its a big challenge, but we relish every moment. Our West Coast main line is our busiest route, so the work is demanding and fast paced. There are always a number of exciting projects going on, including route signaling and PSU upgrades, AC / DC sub station upgrades, so it's a constantly growing team. Distribution and Plant plays a massive role, with broad scope and wide reach and impact on both our rail and road fleets. It's here that we need your expertise.
Responsible for supporting a Team Leader to organise and motivate a specialist team, youll make sure work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with exacting standards. Youll also carry out all kinds of work yourself from rapid response; maintenance and renewal through to inspection; faulting and repair. In addition, youll establish safety arrangements, control and check the quality of work, make sure staff have the appropriate competencies for the task at hand, and ensuring vehicles, plant, equipment, tools and materials are fit for purpose. A crucial frontline role, it calls for a resilient approach. Working on a shift basis, youll be expected to maintain the same high standards at all times of day, even in the toughest weather conditions.
As well as knowledge of the railways that includes experience of PTS and AC/DC, youll need to be used to arranging, implementing and controlling safe systems of work. Qualified to NVQ 1/2 or equivalent, you have a proven ability to lead, motivate and direct a team and are familiar with the relevant standards, procedures and instructions. In addition, you're willing and able to drive vehicles and happy to work shifts in all weathers.
