Assistant Train Manager (Shunter) - Ferme Park, London
GB Railfreight are currently seeking experienced groundstaff to work at Ferme Park and surrounding areas. Working a shift based roster on a nominal 35 hour per week, an ATM will receive a basic salary of £30,774k plus fantastic staff benefits.
We are seeking safety focused and dynamic individuals to join our team and support GBRf in our commitment to deliver a safe, reliable and best in class service to our customers.
Key responsibilities:
As an assistant Train Manager you will be responsible for the safe preparation of the train ready for its departure. You will marshal, shunt and dispatch trains in a safe, punctual and efficient manner in accordance with GBRf and Railway rules and regulations. Liaising with GBRf Train Managers (Drivers), signallers and contractor representatives you will ensure customer requirements are met and trains are prepared efficiently to time.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals wishing to start their career within the railway and could lead to exiting development prospects including promotion to Pilot driving or Train Manager positions if the right skill, competence and commitment is proven over time.
Key Criteria:
Essential
• Previous operational / Groundstaff / shunting experience is essential.• A clean full UK driving licence as you will be required to drive commercial vehicles from time to time. • Experience in a physical and safety critical role (non-railway will be considered)• GCSE in English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or equivalent)• Competent using an IPAD and ability to download applications (APPs)• Flexible attitude to working hours as this is a shift based role on a nominal 35 hour week over 7 days per week.• Willingness to travel to other GBRf sites and locations within the London area• Safety conscious and ability to remain calm in an event of an emergency situation.• Able to multi-task and make quick decisions for short notice changes to train plans.• Ability to work independently and on your own initiative.• Excellent and clear communication skills to relay important safety messages to your colleagues. • Customer focused with customer service experience.
Desirable
• Fire and First aid trained
As part of the selection process candidates will also be required to attend a railway standards new entrant medical and D&A test.
