Working as a Driver Team Manager, youll be a qualified Train Driver and have current train driving competence, and will manage a large team of Train Drivers. You should have the skills to work in a challenging and fast paced environment and provide motivation at ground level. You will be responsible for a large team of staff so you should be an excellent people manager, able to motivate your people to optimise business performance. You will foster, promote, embed our culture, values and behaviours throughout your team.
Based in Manchester reporting directly to the Operations Delivery Manager, you will help deliver key area initiatives working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels. You should possess great problem solving and excellent communication skills. This is a demanding role in which you are under pressure to deliver in a constantly changing, highly unionised environment. You will be directly responsible for all aspects of people management including sickness, discipline and grievances, as well as staff briefings and ensuring customer service excellence. You will also be responsible for holding meetings with Trade Unions to resolve local matters.
To be a success in this role you will have:
* Good interpersonal and people management skills * Concise report writing skills * A PTS certification * Train Driver Competencies* Thorough knowledge of link structure and rostering principles * An understanding of HR policies required for managing staff and H&S legislation * Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint * A full UK driving licence * Ability to fulfil on call commitments
