PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To monitor and control all operational activities in the area of responsibility in a safe and efficient manner. Ensuring delivery of the train plan in accordance with Chiltern Railways Franchise commitment. Co-ordinate all activities during time of disruption to ensure a swift recovery to the planned service. Responsible for the day-to-day management of Chiltern Staff within the Integrated Control Centre.
To ensure that job specific activities do not introduce unacceptable business and safety risks to any aspect of the company operation, and that the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, ensuring that all such activities comply with the relevant sections of the Safety Case and the current Safety Plan.
Specific Statutory Duties
Under sections 7 & 8 of the Health And Safety At Work Act, it is the duty of every employee while at work:-

• To co-operate with his/her employer to enable compliance with any safety instructions;
• Not to interfere with, or misuse equipment provided to meet the employer's safety procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Proactively manage and co-ordinate the provision of services in a safe and efficient manner throughout the whole of Chilterns network, ensuring customer needs are fully satisfied and minimising disruption and delay.
• Monitor Chiltern Railways (services throughout the area of responsibility, taking a pro-active role in service recovery by formulating and implementing any contingency plans necessary and ensuring all relevant parties are kept fully informed, including the dissemination of items for Train crew notice cases.
• Lead and direct Chiltern Railways Staff within the ICC, ensuring compliance to all standards including the management of individuals performance, management of hours, discipline, attendance and welfare issues on a day-to-day basis.
• Maintain a daily log of service performance issues, all incidents and exceptional circumstances occurring throughout the area of responsibility.
• Liaise with Network Rail, London Underground and rail business partners in order to co-ordinate and deliver the train plan, minimising overall disruption and delays to services.
• Manage real time TRUST delay attribution in accordance with the performance schedule to minimise the financial liability of the company and resolve any discrepancies, obtaining reports as appropriate.
• Responsible for short-term roster alterations liaising with Train Crew depots to identify and cover any shortfalls. Also responsible for out of hours rostering of Chiltern Railway Staff advising appropriate personnel of all alterations.
• Direct and co-ordinate the response to emergency situations ensuring compliance with the Emergency Plan. Deploy relevant staff to site including emergency services and On-Call Personnel as necessary.
• Act as focal point for communication ensuring all relevant parties are kept fully advised in a timely and precise manner.
• Act as fire evacuation warden. Responsible for ensuring relevant and current information is displayed on the Safety Notice Board.
