The role
An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Planner to join the VolkerRail, Major Projects Division. The role will initially be involved in the tendering/bidding of various opportunities and frameworks for around 12 months before becoming operational.
Key accountabilities
Once the tendering activities are complete, the role will transfer to a project where the following activities will form the main duties of the role.
- Producing compliant short-term programmes and agree with relevant accountable Project Managers.
- Producing complaint programmes detailing any procurement and design prerequisites.
- Sign off on Programme Updates and Communicate issues.
- Programme Integration Management.
Skills & experience
The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- User knowledge of Primavera P6 and NROL software, Microsoft Office and PPS.
- Previous experience of planning in a major project construction site environment.
- Supervisory track record in rail project environment desirable COSS Competent desirable.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to challenges and problems.
- The ability to manage work to meet varying deadlines.
- Pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure.
- Attention to detail, good communication skills.
- Availability to undertake shift working on site.
- Ability to influence and manage complex and demanding construction teams.
- Full Driving Licence

Location
The position will likely be based out of Baskerville House, Birmingham. However individual arrangements can be made depending upon the successful candidate.
