Operations Manager
About the client:
A family-run, experienced railway civil engineering subcontractor and package contingent labour supply company across tier 2 clients within the rail market, always on hand 24/7.
The Role:
My client is looking for an Operations Manager to be based in the South West. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Rail & Civil engineering sector.
You will be joining a family-run business who are looking to increase their presence in the local area.
Initially you will be required to identify new work opportunities in the area and work with the Business Development Manager to nurture the and turn them into successful business opportunities. You will also be required to manage/ run current projects.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Managing current projects through to completion.
- Identify new business/ project opportunities in the local area and liaise with Business development Manager to increase local presence.
- Being able to foresee upcoming opportunities/tenders with key clients.
- Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
- Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends
- Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees
- Development of commercial strategy and pricing for individual prospects.
- Manage relationships with key operations vendors
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven track record of working within the rail sector, ideally within civils.
- Excellent customer skills at all levels, Identifying and nurturing relationships with key decision makers and influencers.
- A clear understanding of the rail market, operating requirements, and project delivery.
- Excellent skill in oral and written communication
- Well-developed people person, with a strong problem-solving attitude and analytical abilities.
