Network Rail is building a better railway for a better Britain and were doing it through some of the most ambitious and diverse projects Britain has ever seen. The Western Route is one of the busiest parts of the network and features a number of large Infrastructure Projects that are currently underway. These include Crossrail West, Reading Station Area Remodelling, Great Western Electrification and the Great Western Main Line Resignalling. The success of the projects takes dedicated people with a passion for safety and quality. People like you.
Join us and youll be a key member of the Special Project Managers Team that interfaces between the Route and the Projects. Day-to-day, youll act as the primary interface for engineering in set discipline between the Route (Infrastructure Maintenance and Asset Management) and Major Infrastructure Projects and Asset Renewals. Your challenge? To ensure that projects adequately consider reliability, maintainability and safety during the design and construction phases. Youll also act as the Asset Engineer for Asset Management Plans for new and changed assets, as well as ensuring affected assets are protected and project works dont adversely affect reliability and train performance. In addition, although part of the Route Team, youll be the Delivery Unit Engineers representative too, and will be expected to ensure their requirements are delivered whilst allowing them to focus on day-to-day delivery.
To succeed, youll need good knowledge of CDM Regulations, NR Maintenance processes and techniques and the operational railway environment. Well also be looking for a demonstrable understanding of Track Engineering and NR project delivery processes and techniques. Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills are also essential, not least as youll be regularly liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and third parties.
