Rail Scheme Operations & Systems Manager London - £60-70k

Overview

Our client are recruiting for a Senior Rail specialist with extensive systems management background including managing Rail industry schemes and assurance programmes. Technical input and operations oversight of products and services which enhance health, safety and quality assurance in the rail industry. This includes established schemes such as RISQS and RISAS. The role requires good people management skills, a good understanding of IT systems / platforms, a strong background in quality & Safety assurance and technical safety experience.

Key responsibilities

• The role will be the departments technical lead for improvements to existing schemes as well as the development of new assurance products and services, ensuring industry requirements are met and that new offerings have natural system and commercial synergies with existing products and services.
• Manage a growing portfolio of Rail Industry assurance schemes and a team of assurance scheme managers.
• Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and development of scheme managers, assisting them with tactical day to day operational decisions / delivery and longer-term scheme risk mitigation, and development of opportunities.
• Be the technical lead for all assurance scheme developments and business opportunities ensuring that where possible there is synergy and logical interfacing and that they align with industry standards, legislation and rail business practices.
• Develop assurance data collection and management capabilities and use this data to drive industry safety assurance capabilities, particularly amongst industry suppliers.
• Work with the supplier assurance team and scheme service providers to review and continuously improve scheme quality management processes.

Role Qualifications & Requirements

• 5 years Quality and Safety Management experience, ideally in a regulated commercial environment (e.g. rail, mass transportation, aviation, airline, infrastructure, engineering marine, oil & gas).
• Demonstrable experience of implementing best practice management and assurance initiatives and an ability to develop and deliver effective assurance programmes
• Extensive people management experience
• Understanding of commercial assurance schemes
• Experience of writing technical and output-based specifications for commercial offerings including IT systems / platforms
• Knowledge and/or experience of data management and the use of data to drive scheme and industry improvements
