In addition to maintaining the existing network the Government has recently commenced a major program of rail projects named METRONET with the aim of updating & extending the Perth metropolitan rail network and is looking for experienced rail engineers across a number of disciplines to help deliver these exciting phases of work

We are looking to hear from Railway Operations Coordinators interested in emigrating to Australia or relocating interstate to Perth. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination and oversight of interface with rail operations for project works being undertaken by Major Projects. The role is also responsible for monitoring and reviewing contractor safety performance and reporting on KPI trends to the Project Director

Core duties and responsibilities

Interface Management

• Prepares rail staging plans for Major Projects.
• Reviews Contractors rail staging and safety management plans to ensure that project works are undertaken with minimum impacts on existing rail operations.
• Reviews, advises and ensures interface with Transperth Train (TTO) Operations on proposals for line closures.
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the development and delivery of projects.
• Ensures safeworking is planned and delivered for minimal disruption to train operations and the travelling public.

Safeworking Planning and Management

• Reviews and ensures the adequacy of Rail Safety works within Safety Management Plans proposed for each Major Project.
• Reviews the adequacy of Safety Sub-Plans before submission for approval.
• Assists with the development and implementation of effective and efficient safeworking solutions for works on the operating railway as and when required for project delivery.
• Coordinates and directs track closures and associated safeworking procedures.
• Undertakes regular inspections and site audits for compliance with the Safety Sub Plan, Public Transport Authority (PTA) policies and procedures.
• Undertakes Level 3 and Level 4 investigations on reported rail safety incidents.

To be suitable for the role you will ideally have:

• Extensive experience in planning and managing railway works and managing complex interfaces.
• Substantial experience in rail safety and auditing safeworking policies and procedures.
• Substantial experience in safety investigation and reporting incidents including experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing risk management strategies.
• Operational experience and considerable knowledge of Safeworking procedures and Safeworking (Book of Rules).
• Considerable experience in policy formulation and development relating to safeworking issues.
• Working knowledge and understanding of signalling diagrams and safeworking equipment.
