Railway Operations Specialist
Office of Rail and Road
London, Bristol, Birmingham, York, Manchester or Glasgow
TRS Staffing are managing the recruitment of a Railway Operations Specialist for the Office of Rail & Road. The roles offer a salary range of £52,760 – £63,290 (London) or £48,837 - £59,419 (Regional) with excellent pension and benefits.
A deeply-experienced railways professional, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of railway operations, ERTMS and other train protection systems. We value this expertise deeply at the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) because, as the independent regulator for Britain's railways – we can help you extend your passion for safety and reliability network-wide.
You’ll first train to become one of our inspectors. Then, reporting to our Senior Operations Specialist, you’ll carry out inspections, mentor colleagues, advise accident inspectors and give expert witness opinions. Your measured summaries will be needed at sites and meetings around the county – potentially internationally. Some of which will be very high-profile.
More broadly, we’ll look for you to build strong relationships with Network Rail, passenger and freight operators, RDG and RSSB. And together, you’ll develop and roll out strategies that improve the rail industry.
As discussed, a complete knowledge of the industry is vital. Ideally a member of IRO, you’ll also be a decisive leader and engaging collaborator who can instil change. After that, the more you know about GB and European Concept of Operations, the better.
A driving licence is also essential. And in return, you’ll enjoy a raft of benefits, including a choice of two pension schemes. But ultimately, the attraction here is the pride in making travel safer and ever-more efficient for millions.
