Principal Asset Managing Consultant in Nottingham, United Kingdom
Our expanding Asset Management Group is seeking experienced Instrumentation & Monitoring candidates who can support our growth strategy. The role will support the expanding Asset Monitoring Team in the capacity of leadership, work winning and technical operational roles for an expanding team.
Responsibilities will include technical excellence in delivery of projects throughout the project life cycle, consultation with clients, development of a well-defined scope and integration of deliverables within an engineering context tailored for the end user(s).
In addition to technical delivery, the successful candidate will be expected to support our business development initiatives with a strong focus on client engagement, sustained growth, continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration with other engineering disciplines to expand current and new service offerings in existing and new markets.
The Asset Monitoring Team are part of our Geospatial Services department and specialise in measuring and forecasting dynamic behaviour and health of civil infrastructure and earthworks using established and innovative technologies, including automated systems, remote and embedded sensors, and aerial platforms such as InSAR and UAV technology. With clients, we specify, develop and implement instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) systems to baseline performance, detect behaviour and mitigate risk of failure with a predict and prevent ethos. We integrate our specialism with other core engineering disciplines to drive value through interpretation and consultancy services in order to optimise construction methodologies and asset management strategies through analytics and early warnings.
The role will support the expanding Asset Monitoring Team in the capacity of leadership, work winning and technical operational roles. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Proactively promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all staff
- Leading engagement and building strong relationships with internal and external clients
- Acting as the Technical Lead/Specialist/Advisor on projects ranging in complexity, both to the project team and to clients. This will include managing and leading monitoring regimes, analysis and interpretation of data in accordance with the scope and technical standards and/or statutory requirements.

- Promotion of services e.g. presenting at conferences
- Data visualisation and analytics
- Production of well written, technically sound reports and other technical deliverables
- Performing independent Technical Reviews and authorising issue of deliverables
- Developing, negotiating, approving monitoring scopes, budgets and schedules throughout the project life cycle
- Supervision and mentoring of junior staff
- Active involvement with clients, marketing and business development
- Management of technical competencies
- Development of staff training and development plans
- Championing cross discipline integrated services
*Minimum Requirements :
- Relevant experience of monitoring civils assets (e.g. structures, earthworks), using traditional geomatics techniques (e.g. manual and optical), remote condition monitoring instrumentation and emerging technologies
- Specialist knowledge and experience in monitoring and geomatics techniques, their applications including the specification of techniques
- Demonstrable experience in preparing commercial and technical proposals
- A thorough understanding of the installation of and implementation of monitoring instrumentation and regimes
- A thorough capability in the visualisation and analytics of monitoring datasets
- Full technical capability for developing, organising, executing and co-ordinating projects and protect team members
- Application of deformation monitoring techniques in an engineering context
- Line management experience
- Demonstrable behaviours aligned to integrated and high-quality delivery
- Desirable: Software development and/or programming skills

- Relevant Degree/MSc
- Experience in a relevant monitoring or geomatics role
