Position Summary
Supporting the Business Development Team by defining and costing solutions to respond to customer Bid enquiries. Co-ordinating between the business functional departments to ensure we respond both in a professional & timely manner to all enquiries.
Key Activities/Elements
This post is responsible for defining and costing solutions of bids & tenders for ADComms.
Review of received contract requirement documents to identify suitability against the business capability and strategy.
- Working with the engineering team define tender solutions and costing to enable bid / no bid decisions.
- Working with the Engineering team you would be responsible for defining a Bill of Quantities and pricing the delivery project.
- Preparation of supporting bid material e.g. presentations, bid compliance documents
- Interpret and measure cost of solution deployment in rail environment including whole lifecycle costs.
- Requesting and engagement of departmental resource as required to support solution offerings.
- Preparation of budget costings to support submissions
- Presentation of submissions for review & acceptance by Bid Review Panel
- Customer interface for ongoing bids & follow up of submissions
- Provide information to assist with the maintenance of the live tender database and bid register
- KPI reporting for forecasting & continuous improvement
- Provide assistance when required for completion of Expressions of Interest, Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Bid Documentation & Quotes as required by the business
- Attend post tender meetings with the client including negotiations allowing a handover to operations teams for project delivery.
Knowledge and skills
- Degree level qualification, engineering background an advantage
- Experience of solution design and costing processes
- Experience of working in the Rail Industry preferable
- Experience of IT systems, infrastructure and installations
- Understanding of standards and industry guidance
- Comfortable specifying established system designs and applying innovation for emerging technologies
- Applying known technologies and solutions into a rail environment either from non-rail sectors or other rail infrastructures
- Knowledge of RAMS / LCC / Assurance and the associated impact on whole life solution design
- Excellent computer skills & will be proficient in the use of Excel, Word & other Microsoft Office applications
