About the role

A crucial role supporting the delivery of their overall growth plan and significantly building upon their existing multi-million pound Rail Services portfolio as well as developing, designing and seeking out new market opportunities. You will act to ensure they are the first point of call for new and existing rail freight opportunities by building industry trust, expertise and strong relationships. You will ensure that market users trust in their business’ brand and values, to deliver demands and optimise the wider company proposal.

Requirements for the role

  • Experience of business and customer relationship / account development at senior levels with the ability to forge strong, deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Track record of building key accounts with customers
  • Previous experience of working within Transport and/or Logistics consulting. – Previous experience, working as a Railway professional highly desirable.
  • Experience in producing high quality customer proposals and commercial deals, covering multiple services over longer-term contract periods

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining the Rail Services Sales Pipeline, delivering forecasted and non-forecasted sales opportunities.
  • Driving revenue generation in the Rail Services market by exploiting new and existing relationships whilst discovering new lines of business opportunity.
  • Ongoing market analysis and industry knowledge to build expertise that is unparalleled amongst market competition.
  • Long-term engagement with key industry customers and stakeholders, with clear strategies specific to each opportunity and customer.
  • Diligently gather information to build a commercial offering that is both profitable to the business and ensures value for money for the customer.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for sales opportunities, ensuring a contract is drafted with input from the internal legal team.
  • Regularly appraise the Head of Sales and Business Development Director of the status of key sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Business Implementation, Commercial team and other key internal stakeholders to ensure we design innovative responses to opportunities.
  • Accurate use of internal Customer Database to build tailored sales strategies that are translatable to the executive.
  • Managing the full life-cycle customer experience including engagement and deal closing.
  • Act as a brand ambassador by championing the company values and inspiring others within the organisation
  • Maintain effective targeting and pipeline management processes, ensuring ‘next steps selling’ is applied to increase conversions, transaction values and create sustainable accounts.
  • Arrange meetings nationally and upsell in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Work as a ‘prolific connector’ within and outside the Railway to engage in a wide range of networking events to build relationships with Rail professionals across multiple organisations.
