Assistant Project Engineer – Digital Railway Signalling
Location: North WestWhat is the purpose of this role?
Support the principal engineering manager in both research and development projects and client delivery projects.
What will this role involve?
- Take responsibility for the safety of people, products and projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technology partners to define requirements.
- Independently research and analyse information from sources such as codes of practice and technical specifications.
- Contribute to the development of specifications and solutions.
- Solve technical problems.
- Undertake design reviews with design teams and the principal engineering manager.
- Contribute to the management of project budgets and programmes.
- Help with business development and bids.
- Develop your railway engineering and signalling capability.
- Record your learning and increasing competence in a professional development logbook
What are we looking for?
- Knowledge and experience of industrial computer-based automation or experience designing and implementing condition monitoring systems (or perhaps already have railway signalling systems experience)
- Either a relevant engineering / science/ technology degree or a higher vocational qualification in computer-based / PLC technology.
- Commitment to self-learning and applying that learning.
- Confidence to approach new problems with uncertain solutions.
