Installation Operative / Technician - Signalling

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and independent Signalling Installation Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of railway signalling systems, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and understand installation documentation and diagrams.
- Work independently to prioritise tasks and make informed decisions.
- Possess a thorough working knowledge of signalling systems and their interfaces with other railway equipment and systems.
- Correctly use tools and test equipment to:
- Install and wire signalling equipment and systems.
- Remove and replace signalling components as part of renewal activities.
- Conduct installation integrity checks, such as wire counts and continuity checks.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with work on the operational railway, considering operational, site, and environmental conditions.
- Ensure the availability of the correct resources for tasks and arrange for proper handover of work at the end of shifts.
- Resolve any installation work issues within the limits of authority.

Requirements:
- Proven experience in signalling installation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of railway signalling systems and interfaces.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and diagrams.
- Competency in using relevant tools and test equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
- Awareness of safety and operational risks on the railway.
- Strong organizational skills to manage tasks and resources effectively.
- Good communication skills for effective handovers and reporting.

- The role may require working in various environmental conditions and on a rotating shift basis.
