Due to our client winning high amounts of work for CP6 we are looking for a lead signalling designer. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to join their signalling design office and work with one latest signalling equipment on the market, and be part of growing team with a great working ethos. Working for one of the biggest contractors in the rail sector globally, you will be responsible for producing and verifying.
Working alongside some of the best signalling designers in the industry, you will be an integral part of the team, where you will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge but also showcasing your talent to others. Our client has won multiple framework projects throughout CP6 so you can be sure that you will always be put to a challenge.

As A Lead signalling designer are responsible for the following:
- Production, Verification and Validation of level crossing Signalling design deliverable at a principle and system level in accordance with project programme, budgetary and technical requirements
- Production and Verification of level crossing ground plans and orders.
- Production, Verification and Validation of safety related Level Crossing design deliverable at a principle and system level in accordance with appropriate railway standards, technical constraints, health and safety legislation, company procedures, CDM Regulations, and CSM procedures
- Production, Verification and Validation of generic design solutions to meet Level Crossing requirements
- Support the Responsible Engineer with the identification of operational risks, construction risk, maintenance risk and system risk within design
- Identify best practice signalling processes as part of a continual improvement plan to increase efficiency and minimise cost of non-quality and technical / delivery risk
- Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
- Working on safety critical or safety related activities only where this complies with relevant competence or authority to work, or implementing and documenting a robust mentorship plan
Essential:
- Application of Signalling Verification and Design Process at a principle and system level
- Application of CDM (Construction, Design and Management Regulations)
- Application of the RSSB (Rail Safety and Standards Board)
- Application of Network Rail Standards (or equivalent)
- Verification of risk assessments
- Knowledge of CSM (Common Safety Method)
- Possesses effective communication skills
- Computer skills including CAD
- Able to produce and verify electrical and electronic circuits, data sheets and specifications
- Time management and time keeping
Qualifications
- IRSE 1.1.160 IRSE Signalling Design Verifier OR/AND Principal design licence
