We are currently dealing with a major Engineering consultancy who are looking for a Principal Designer CDM (CDM Coordinator) to work on one of the UK flagship rail projects being based in York. Within the role you will work in the Systems Safety Assurance team liaising frequently with the Design Integration team undertaking regular monitoring and inspection of company projects from a CDM perspective to report on levels of compliance and identify lessons learned.

As the Principal Designer youll ensure projects are compliant with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 within the Pre-Construction Phase, through execution of the Principal Designer Duties. You will also provide guidance and Management on issues involving CDM and general construction activities as well as other regulatory requirements. The key for this position is management as you will be dealing with 14 different design disciplines, pushing back design ensure they compliant with the relevant health and safety regulations.

 

Typical job duties can include, but not limited too:

• Provide guidance and Management on issues involving CDM and general construction activities as well as other regulatory requirements relating to portfolio of works (multi-sector construction)
• Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 within the Pre-Construction Phase, through execution of the Principal Designer Duty (Regulation 11)
• Promote effective Design Risk Management throughout the company
• Facilitation of Hazard Identification, Hazard Review and other design focussed Workshops

Job Requirements

• Highly Knowledge in Risk Assessment and Design Risk Management process and techniques
• Strong levels of experience and knowledge of engineering design and construction principles and standards (Rail industry an advantage)
• Highly knowledgeable and experienced in the successful application and management of CDM in a multi-disciplinary project environment (Client, Designer and Principal Designer duties.)
• Ideally rail experience, but not a necessity
• A NEBOSH Construction (or similar) and/or design Certificate

As mentioned, this role is based in Yorkshire, specifically York so could suit candidates in the surrounding areas such as Leeds, Sheffield or Doncaster. There is also a possibility to work out one of the other regional offices such as Manchester.
