Rolling Stock Expert: Cairo

EWI is currently working with our major railway engineering client who are looking to recruit an experienced Lead Rolling Stock Engineer to work on their metro project in Cairo, Egypt. This is a Senior Expert level role and requires an experienced E&M systems expert who is able to review design and has good project management skills.

The role is paying a total monthly package of around 10,000 Euros per month.

Scope of work:
The Rolling Stock Lead Engineer mandate is to assist the Rolling Stock Team leader.
The main scope of work of the project is to review the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning pertaining to the rolling stock acceptance.
The project is expected to last till 2025.
For the Rolling Stock, we are now at the Design stage. The activity consists in reviewing technical documents submitted by the contractor to verify their consistency with the Tendering specifications, the international standards and the state of the art.
Once the design is approved, it will be requested to follow up the construction, delivery and tests of the whole fleet.

Requirements to apply and duties of role;

Engineering Degree qualified in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Post-graduate Experience of 15 years overall and 10 years in Rolling Stock.
Review the design documentation produced by the contractor for Rolling Stock works and construction activities. Prepare Documents Review Sheets (DRS).
Provide regular support to the customer regarding project activities.
Participation and Coordination of meetings regarding rolling stock activities such as design reviews, interfacing and testing supervision at contractor/sub-contractors and customer's sites.
Prepare and issue Minutes of Meetings.
Coordination with other services for interfacing and commissioning activities of the rolling stock works.
Very good skills in written English and the use of Microsoft tools such as Word, XL, Outlook, is required.
Good knowledge of materials and electrical and pneumatic systems and structural analysis is required (HVAC, Brake systems, TCMS, FEA, Welding).
Systems Assurance and RAM experience is also preferred.
