We are currently dealing with a Rail Engineering consultancy who are looking to expand the team across the UK by recruiting a Signalling Design Engineer, with their main office being based in Stratford-upon-Avon, but offering full remote working. Within this role you will be engaging with cross functional projects bringing innovative and complex digital control systems. You will provide signalling design schemes, specifications and technical specifications for current projects, bids, and tenders. As Signalling Design Engineer, you will be familiar with preparing detailed bill of materials specifications from the final approved design.

A Signalling Designer, the work location will be centered on the companys Headquarters Offices, Stratford-upon-Avon, but you will be able to work within the companys Agility Framework and Hybrid Work Policy, meaning your day-to-day work base can be adaptable, only attending the office for essential client meetings, mentor meetings and peer reviews. You will provide signalling design schemes, specifications and technical specifications for current projects, bids, and tenders. As Signalling Design Engineer, you will be familiar with preparing detailed bill of materials specifications from the final approved design.
Within this role as Signalling Design Engineer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Signalling and rail control systems design engineer - delivery of all aspects of signalling and rail control design for a wide variety of projects and technical consulting.
- Self-motivated understanding the concept of finite deadlines and deliverable targets.
- The opportunity to cross-skill and work with multi-functional project specialists both internal and external; whilst achieving continued professional development across a related matrix.
- Participating in the preparation of project programmes with others; including associated time and resource planning
- Attend client meetings and discussions at the project set-up, development and IDCs, gaining experience in all the GRIP stages and technical product applications.
- With mentoring develop the final design scope from the clients technical documentation,
- Support tender submissions, bid development and materials planning as well as project site visits.
- Report and feedback on technical review meetings to the design team in the weekly project review.
- Participate with the Design Managers weekly Design Review Flash meeting, contributing constructively to the success of projects.
- Prepare outline design ready for design review and independent checking.
- Programmes closely and being responsible for risk and impact assessments that may have significant effects on meeting key dates as the project progresses through its phases.
- Undertaking survey and correlation work on site as required
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, and a broad and current knowledge of signalling standards
- Understanding of mainline and metro light rail systems and the interface between other railway assets
Job Requirements:
- Current IRSE Design License 1.1.510
- Motivated to work towards Principles License
- At least 5 years experience
- Experience with CAD
- Experienced with a wide variety of systems, methodology and applications from a design perspective
- Knowledge of signalling equipment and systems within the railway environment
