Professional Signalling Engineering Manager
Location: Office Location - Ashford Kent (Nationwide applications will be accepted)
SigTech Rail are seeking a motivated, talented and organised individual to join us to manage the installation, testing & management of all our signalling projects.
As the company is growing rapidly you will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.
You will also need excellent organisation skills, IT skills and the ability to communicate with staff, other contractors and different project teams at all levels.
You will report directly to the Managing Director & Professional Head of Signalling and work on projects across the UK and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.
Role Requirements
• Working towards Engineering Manager (Project Engineer) IRSE License.
• 5+ years’ experience in Railway Signalling Testing & the Commissioning of various sizes of projects (small and major project works).
• Hold PTS track safety competencies and Relevant NWR TIC certifications.
• Hold SMTH & G110 Competency, (Author / Checker preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of Installation and SMTH procedures and standards.
• Hold a diverse range of signalling competencies and signalling design.
• Work well within a team environment whilst also influencing staff.
• Previous experience of S&T Installation and construction activities with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail standards.
• Proven experience of delivering to budgets and timescales.
• Understanding of other related rail disciplines and interface management.
• Post with 'safety of the Line' Responsibilities.
• Identify, remove or mitigate foreseeable risks related to construction work.
• Ensure allocation of competent staff.
• Participate in regular monthly safety meetings.
• Undertake technical audits within department.
• Ensure that safety critical records are kept.
• As this post may have staff reporting to it, you are responsible for ensuring that the staff under your control are provided with plant and equipment that is safe and, so far as is reasonably practical, without risk to health or the environment.
• Ensure arrangements are made to carry out statutory inspections and any remedial action they produce is undertaken.
• Ensure that Safe systems of work are in place, are monitored regularly and that local safety instructions are specified where required.
• Ensure that Employees, Agency Staff and Contractors under your control receive adequate health and safety information and where appropriate, instruction/training.
• Be prepared to undertake site surveys for upcoming works
• Excellent knowledge of the NWR company standards requirements
• Willing to work flexibly and efficiently in order to support the MD & Head of Signalling whilst managing the extensive project pipeline.
