Our client, a Signalling Design Consultancy, now have an extremely exciting opportunity within their team for a Signalling Engineering Manager. This is a highly responsible role where you'll be working very closely with the Managing Director. It is advantageous for you to have previous Signalling sector experience as the role will require an understanding across signalling systems in general, however, it is not essential. Candidates from other sectors within Rail will be considered.
This will be a hybrid working role so you will need to live within a commutable distance of the office location.
Principal responsibilities:
- Support the MD in annual staff Training and Development Reviews for each of the Design team.
- Technical and managerial oversight of all signalling design staff, to include day-to-day allocation to project work (both ongoing and new contracts) and competence & training.
- Contributing to the success and development of the company through the cost effective and timely delivery of project assignments consistent with the aims of both the client and the employer.
- Organising the management of work activities of the design team and contributing to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Chair weekly Design Team meetings.
- Management of project resources including the internal staff and subcontractors.
- Attending client meetings and provide and address client feedback.
- Deputising for CRE’s when required
- Ensuring that all project related documents are subject to rigorous peer review prior to formal issue to the client and that all such reviews are recorded and retained on project files.
- Oversee issue of Purchase Orders to Subcontractors.
- 15+ years of relevant technical experience
- Decent knowledge & understanding of signalling, design, installation, and T&C activities.
- A sound knowledge of standards and specifications relating to signalling systems.
- Understanding of CDM & CSM.
- Strong leadership skills and/or previous management experience
- Comfortable in client-facing situations
- Knowledge/experience of risk assessment methodology.
- Incorporated Engineer
- Membership of the IRSE.
- A relevant IRSE Licence (advantageous)
- HNC level electrical/electronic engineering
