If you are interested in joining a team of skilled signalling staff in the installation of signalling equipment to quality standards then this could be a great career move for you!
You would be supporting the team leader in the delivery of on-site signalling works in accordance with expected safety and quality expectations.
Your main areas of responsibility & accountability
- Participate in installation activity to ensure specifications, design and materials requirements are actioned and the work is carried out to the standards and the timescale as specified in the Work Package Plan and Task Briefings.
- Escalate any safety, technical or operational concerns to line manager.
- Ensure you participate in any relevant information about the job including safety issues.
- Assist other staff in safety testing and design work.
- Assist in the SMTH testers with the testing of signalling equipment.
- Carry out duties of COSS/IWA as required.
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.

- Hold or working towards Installation Technician IRSE Licenses
- Hold PTS, Lookout, COSS/IWA track safety competencies.
- Work towards and willing to hold SMTH Competency.
- Some previous experience of Signalling & Telecoms installation and construction activities with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail installation standards.
- Understanding of other related rail disciplines.
