Signalling Principles Testers

Randstad is proud to partner with Queensland Rail (QR) on a major international recruitment drive to source multiple Principles Testers.

QR operates passenger and freight rail services across Queensland, and is committed to providing a customer-focused, safe and world-class rail service. It is also responsible for the maintenance of a 6600 kilometre rail network and the effective delivery of projects to improve the efficiency and increase the capacity of its rail assets.

QR has a current project pipeline of over A$10 billion and this is expected to grow exponentially in the build up to the 2032 Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games. As a result of this significant investment, the need to secure in-house signalling and systems assurance resources is paramount to support the Major Projects and Integration division (MPI). MPI is currently delivering Cross River Rail, which includes the installation/commissioning of ETCS level 2 and the Fast Rail project from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• The delivery of appropriate principles testing plans and execution of principles testing. This includes test rig design and test data associated with changes to signalling and operational systems infrastructure by engaging with the relevant design and construction teams.
• Principles testing of signalling interlockings, which include simulation data preparation, changeover, and integration of Queensland rail specific signalling principles to validate signalling systems and provide safe train separation and safe train operations.
• Provide specialist signalling and testing advice on staging and construction methods that are utilised to help simplify testing.
• Identify, manage, and monitor risks or issues that may affect the handover of the signalling system and implement appropriate measures to minimise or eliminate these risks.
• Ensure that the requirements of train operations and other engineering disciplines are catered for in the development of signalling principles test plans.

To be successful in this role:

• Knowledge and experience of Principles Testing of signalling systems ideally in a brownfield construction railway environment.
• IRSE Principles Tester Licence
• A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable
