Signalling Project Engineer
Responsible for delivery of signalling project engineering activities within a TfL project:
The scope will include:
Act as single point of contact for all Engineering topics in the respective Signalling solution.
Act as the ‘controlling mind’, for the application design and implementation of all signalling and interfacing engineering systems including representation at local and project-level Gates and Checkpoint reviews.
Lead on technical integration of the respective projects through the design and site application engineering phases.
Lead on issue resolution of multi-disciplinary or multi-project nature.
Challenge discipline specific issues through the respective Engineers and escalate items as required.
Author and/or manage the development and delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering assurance products in compliance with internal standards and processes.
Identify non compliances and author and/or manage the development concessions or alternative methods to delivery of assured engineering outcomes.
Own and maintain the Signalling-application-level technical risk and issues register, holding periodic technical risk reviews with the relevant Engineers.
Support the programme in the delivery of its CDM obligations.
Support the respective Project Manager and their teams and respective embedded Professional Services in the management of schedule, risk and cost, drawing upon the technical risk and issues register.
Own the resolution of quality issues with regards to engineering deliverables and support Construction in the management of site quality.
- Identify and lead the delivery of Value Engineering outcomes (design, process, resources, tools, etc.), seeking the support of the engineers as required
Knowledge:
Record of continuing professional development
Understanding of Signalling engineering
Awareness of developments in Signalling and Train control
products, process’s and assurance best practices.
Knowledge of relevant LU, British and International standards
Working knowledge of the LU business, its obligations and priorities
Knowledge of engineering safety management and its application within the railway
environment
Skills:
Ability to represent LUs interests with external parties e.g. railways, standards bodies,
regulators
High level of integrity
Highly developed ability to act on own initiative
Highly motivated, with a real passion for personal development
Experience:
Experience of Signalling systems engineering and its practical application to high value
programmes
Experience of personal responsibility for providing professional engineering support to
major/ projects and maintenance organisation(s), where there are complex interfaces
