Our client, an established business providing Signalling services, now has an opening for a Signalling Project Engineer/CRE on a 6-month rolling contract (Outside IR35). You will be Project Engineer / CRE for multi-discipline signalling and rail control system projects integrated into an established multi-disciplinary team.
You will be able to work from a flexible work location but this is predominantly a site-based role with current projects being based in London, the Midlands and the North East of England.
Principal responsibilities:
- Advise on proper engineering standards applied in relation to construction within the programme delivery cycle including the NWR Standard applicable to the works undertaken
- Follow company systems and procedures in respect of technical design & engineering without exception
- Advise on and maintain relevant technical legislation and standards to ensure programme delivery is compliant throughout
- Provide useful input, direction and feedback at the weekly design briefings
- Apply and report in the company standard method, procedures for quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis
- Advise on design and construction elements as required as they correspond to the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations
- Inform the company immediately of any safety issues arising from the work being done
- Support when required the progress of works with the Project Manager
- Liaising with the Principal Civil Contractor (signalling)
- Provide technical advice and support to the combined functional project team
Key skills/experience required:
- You will have gained significant demonstrable experience working within Signalling and control systems engineering and be able to undertake the roles of Contractors’ Responsible Engineer (CRE).
- An experienced and knowledgeable engineer, you will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent organisational ability and have working current knowledge of Railway interfaces and practices including the NWR applicable standards.
- An HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is an essential requirement for this role.
- Current PTS and IRSE Engineering Manager or equivalent status
