Signalling & Telecom Expert Metro & Tram

The Signalling & Telecom Expert Metro & Tram will support the Service Delivery Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Department in analysing and resolving safety and maintenance-related issues across signaling and telecommunications systems for metro and tram operations. This includes conducting root cause analyses, ensuring system performance aligns with contractual and regulatory requirements, and implementing improvements to maintenance practices.

The role also involves leading system design modifications, obtaining regulatory approvals, and managing the development, integration, and optimisation of advanced signaling and telecom solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise and System Integration
Lead defect and failure analysis for signaling and telecom systems, providing expert-level technical solutions.
Oversee the planning, design review, and integration of advanced signaling systems such as CBTC and ETCS, ensuring seamless coordination with other rail subsystems.
Ensure all signaling and telecom systems comply with international safety standards (e.g., CENELEC EN 50126/8/9, EN 50129) and conduct risk assessments and audits as required.
Provide expertise on the latest technologies and best practices in rail signaling and communications.
Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, regulatory bodies, and contractors to address integration challenges and maintain quality standards.
Maintenance Strategy and Operations
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and strategies to enhance system durability, minimise disruptions, and extend asset service life.
Oversee signaling and telecom renewal projects, working closely with contractors and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery and adherence to performance benchmarks.
Support the revision of Asset Maintenance Plans, Maintenance Planning Tables, and other technical documentation to align with operational needs.
Evaluate and implement proactive maintenance strategies to optimise system reliability and availability.

Desired Profile
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Membership in a relevant professional engineering association is desirable.
Experience
10+ years in the rail industry with a focus on metro and tram systems.
Proven expertise in signaling and telecom system maintenance, construction, and design, including extensive knowledge of GOA4 systems.
Strong understanding of rail industry standards, codes, and best practices.
Experience with rail technologies, including rolling stock, signaling, and communication systems.
