About the Project
The Midland Junction Alliance (MJA) comprising of Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA), McConnell Dowell Pty Limited (MCD), Georgiou Group Pty Limited, BG&E and Arcadis is an alliance that is committed to delivering the Midland Station (Cale Street) Project (MSCS) and associated works in a collaborative way to ensure exceptional results.
With McConnell Dowell as the principal contractor the Midland Station project is a Design and Construct project including but not limited to the following scope;
- A new train station and decommissioning of existing
- A new actively protected at-grade level crossing and decommissioning of existing
- A Multi storey car park
- A bus interchange / station
- A communications system backbone
- A new rail track alignment including mixed and dual gauge infrastructure
- A new Overhead Line Equipment system and upgrade of the existing
- A new signalling system and upgrade of existing for integration to the operational network
- Train Control System updates
- Operations building, road and civil works, principal shared paths, drainage systems
The project will run until Q1 of 2025 and be built in multiple complex stages to facilitate delivery including commissioning, interconnection with the existing freight and passenger rail line networks and Final Asset Acceptance (FAA) of the works.
About the Role
MCD are currently recruiting for a Signalling and Communications Lead to join our MSCS project team in Perth, Western Australia on a Full Time employment contract. Some of the main objectives of the role include:
- Oversee and support construction methodologies, staging and overall constructability of the design solution
- Oversee the logistics for signalling procurement, deliveries and distribution of materials and equipment
- Coordinate and administer signalling engineering activities including factory pre-wiring and site installation works to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with construction program, plans, designs, and specifications
- Monitor progress of signalling activities for adherence to programme and report to the Construction Manager
- Assist in preparation and support of the signalling testing and commissioning activities
- Manage and be accountable for signalling installation activities
- Manage and execute the delivery of the signalling scope in line with the requirements of the client and the project Quality systems
- Ensure all Signalling Work Lots are populated with relevant quality related evidence including associated ITPs
- Assist with the monitoring of signalling budgets and reports as part of the broader project package
- Review Commissioning plans and Commissioning test procedures from sub-contractors
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
- Assisting the business with endeavours for new works including forming part of project tenders.
Key Competencies:
- Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering and or appropriate discipline
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ signalling engineering experience or demonstration of the experience to succeed in the role
- Project Engineering and Signalling Construction experience on major projects
- Experience in signalling design and development is desirable
- Knowledge of signalling plans, circuit books and other associated signalling designs
- Knowledge of signalling civil works including Combined Services Route and equipment foundation construction
- Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specifications, standards and implications for project accountabilities
- Demonstrated working knowledge of industry standards
