Customer Services – Systems / Signalling Engineer
Job Description:
Working as a system, signalling and product support engineer within the customer environment, reporting to CS Senior Systems Engineer.
What are my responsibilities:
Providing engineering support to CS Customers to CS Team & Senior System Engineer as required in relation to:
- Feasibility - Producing and commenting on feasibility studies for system maintenance, enhancements, improvements and maintaining product/system longevity
- Design/solution acceptance - able to accept designs from 3rd parties, providing feedback on designs.
- Obsolescence – monitor product obsolescence reports and coordinate with end customers to access usage and provide guidance on solutions
- Suitability of solution - producing assessments of suitability for signalling solution, providing recommendations as to the optimum solution.
- Integration of assets/solutions - taking a systems approach to integrating assets / solutions.
- Compliance to standards - ensuring that designs are compliant to standards.
- Concessions - producing detailed concessions to standards with fully reasoned risk assessed arguments that will allow for concessions to be granted.
- Signalling design changes – Provide suitable design changes for a range of customers (including Network Rail and TfL).
- Be able to analyse and interpret system diagnostic recorded logs to define issues
- Support as an individual or accompany CS Engineers site visits to assist with local support issues
- Be able to produce formal Technical and Engineering Reports following engineering investigation(s)
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent (essential)
- A current IRSE Signaling Design/Design Assistant License or be working towards a license
- Understanding of Signalling engineering and awareness of developments in Signalling and Train control products
- Knowledge of relevant Network Rail, British and International standards
- Knowledge of engineering safety management and its application within the railway environments
- Experience of personal responsibility for providing professional engineering support to projects and maintenance organisations
- Ability to represent customer interests with both internal and external parties
- High level of integrity
- Highly developed ability to act on own initiative
- Highly motivated, with a real passion for personal development
- The ability to use the design software in the discipline (CAD, Office, Databases etc.)
