What is the Role?
Working as the Contractors Responsible Engineer – Design (CRE - D) specifically for electrical projects and Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) roles on Network Rail projects. You'll be responsible from inception and guiding concepts through design, delivery, completion, commissioning, and handover to the respective clients. This will see you leading and driving the business ambitions in off-site manufacturing and modularisation, by co-ordinating with the BIM/CAD team and pre-construction activities including programming.
You'll also be responsible for ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and codes of practice. Liaising with the Business Assurance team to ensure our current portfolio of accreditations is maintained in lines with National Rail standards applicable to the business. This includes getting most out of the engineering and production management, managing design and design timelines to ensure success and that the client’s expectations are fully met.
You'll work closely with Business Development, Bid Support and Estimating to develop innovative and cost-effective competitive solutions for my client and also be involved with aspects of design management, bid/pre-construction management. Building strong relationships with preferred framework consultants, suppliers, and my client's internal team members, you'll encourage excellent behaviours to develop solutions, to resolve design issues, CDM obligations and any technical opportunities and risks.
What Do I Need?
To be successful, you'll have sound engineering knowledge, proven commercial acumen and knowledge of key contracts and customer/client base. You'll be a Chartered member of an institute such as the IET with a minimum of 10 years project engineering experience, with excellent management skills and the ability to identify, develop, design and deliver projects offering a high profit contribution to the business.
You'll have experience of contract administration and financial management of projects, have a working knowledge of BIM standards and principles of off-site manufacturing. Finally, you'll be an experienced user of general office applications, MS Project and appropriate Company systems.
