Sub Agent - Rail Civils in London, London, United Kingdom

A leading civil engineering company delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK need sub agents to work on various civil projects in the Wessex region. The projects include Geotechnical, Building, civils and structures with the focus being on railway station refurbishments, platform extensions, bridges and tunnelling.

The organisation would like the individuals to lead by example by engendering the collaborative culture throughout the team, including suppliers and customers, ensuring that everyone works towards our common vision of a vibrant delivery mechanism that delivers on promises, chosen by customers and has safety at its core.

Responsibilities

Site Management

  • Maintain commercial performance of the contract.
  • Be responsible for the successful delivery of projects
  • Produce and manage the project programme and supervise the delivery of it.
  • Review 3-week programme to ensure in line with the project programme and organise resources necessary to meet the plan.
  • Understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
  • Ensure all staff, subcontractors and visitors are properly inducted, meet the competencies required of them and hold relevant qualifications and tickets.
  • Undertake an ambassadorial role, representing the Business to customers, the public and official bodies.
  • Produce good quality, accurate monthly reports for the Client and internally.
  • Chair weekly site meetings in line with Company procedures.

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Comply with Company procedures and legal obligations at all times, promoting best practice.
  • Promote the Octavius safety rules and establish safe working cultures and practices and environmental compliance, stop any unsafe work conditions.
  • Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors, developing positive working relationships
  • Oversee and ensure that all HSEQ-related documentation is kept up to date and briefed, as necessary.
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly inspections are carried out and all audits and reports are produced.

Cost control

  • Populate and manage the Octavius cost plan for the project.
  • Maximise project value and maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo.
  • Ensure detailed site diaries/records are completed.

Required skillset

  • Excellent communication and management skills. Leading and motivating the team to achieve high standards of compliance.
  • Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
  • Demonstrate the right behaviours to ensure the culture is in line with Company values.

Experience and knowledge:

  • Experience in project delivery
  • Construction industry knowledge and in tune with latest technology.
  • NEC forms of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.
  • Civil engineering - Specification knowledge and testing regimes.
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator (desirable).
  • Leadership experience (desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • CSCS card / SMSTS
  • NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Working towards IEng AMICE, AMIEE, AMIMechE, or equivalent (desirable)
  • Service avoidance training (desirable)
  • Confined space training (desirable)
  • Appointed person CPCS card (desirable)
