Site Engineer- Highways (Nights)
Birmingham
Up to £300 /day UMB
6 Months (initially)
My client is an industry leading road design, constructor, asset manager and maintenance provider in the UK. They are now looking for a Site Engineer with experience of working on Highways projects to join a growing team of Highway Engineers working on a large portfolio of major projects.
The successful candidate will undertake Site Engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress to Section Engineer(s). The work will predominately be Nights
The role will involve:
- Production of Task Briefing Sheets
- Contribution to production of Permit to Dig, including briefing to the workforce.
- Safety Inspections
- Hazard Identification and contribution to development of Safe System of Work
- Setting out from primary control provided by others.
- Maintain survey equipment including registers of equipment and testing regimes.
- Data Collection through on-site records (diary, photographs, file notes).
- Monitoring of Budget (including labour and plant in use in their section)
- Production of as-built drawings & records for Handover Documentation
- Works to Weekly Programme (drafted by others) and marks up progress achieved weekly.
- Contributes to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential:
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work
- Capable of taking ownership of tasks
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
- Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
- Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
- Understands Permit to Dig System
- Working exposure to Setting out
- Read and understands drawings and schedules
- Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works
Desirable:
- Leadership skills – able to mentor other members of the team to aid their development.
- Targeting and actively progressing towards professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IHT)
- Ability to use Setting out techniques including level & EDM, plus GPS.
