Site Engineer in United Kingdom

Purpose of the Job
The role of the Site Engineer is to primarily assist the Section Engineers in providing engineering control ensuring compliance with project procedures for the following
defined section of the works;


Civil and Architectural Finishes Works
This will involve substantial Tier 2 Subcontractor Management, ensuring deocumentation and designs are ready for contractual Access Dates.


The WBS Section engineer must work very closely with the rest of the Delivery Team and Engineering desing team, to ensure a high quality standard, safe and efficient
delivery of the works.


The roles and responsibilities are described in detail for the role in the following sections:
Health and Safety, Behavioural and Cultural Requirements
Conduct Site specific Inductions when required for new starters in the new Station Box WBS Work Site
Assist the Site Foreman in ensuring site signage is updated.
Ensure all works are carried out as per the approved Method statements
Raise Unsafe Acts, Unsafe Conditions and Incidents to the General Foreman and the Sub Agent for the Shift Report
Actively engage in the Health and Safety Behavioural and Cultural programme ‘stand4safety’
Lead by example, demonstrating high standards of health and safety at all times
Continually demonstrate collaborative, inclusive, cooperative and ‘problem solving’ values in all interactions (in person or electronically) with Bank Project’s client
team, colleagues and suppliers
Enable, and where necessary, coach direct reports to achieve high standards of Health and Safety, behavioural and cultural performance
Freely discus Health and Safety, project issues, interpersonal behavioural differences and ensure transparency of decision making, actions and planning, as part of
your daily responsibilities
Intervene, when necessary, to avert, prevent or stop unsafe conditions or acts and ensure appropriate management action is taken to prevent future reoccurrence
Display discerning judgement, leadership and where necessary, STOP WORK when unsafe situations occur
Establish, encourage and maintain collaborative/cooperative relationships with Bank Project’s client team, Dragados colleagues and suppliers
Proactively challenge safety, programme, commercial etc. decisions, then you believe then to not be in the project’s overall best interest, and share alternatives
Recognise what went well, champion and promote those successes, and share any new learning with the wider team
Staff
Assist witht the graduate engineers continual professional development
Be responsible for highlighting to your manager when you require training in good
time to allow for application
Brief Site Foreman on works required at the start of each shift and after the daily
coordination meeting
Commercial/ Procurement
Assist the compilation of Shift Reports along side Site Foreman and Section
Engineers to present the information daily to the Sub Agent
Raise material requisitions for items required by the site team. Ensure the correct
materials are delivered
Review and sign delivery notes as and when required ensuring the procured
material has arrived on site

Meetings
Attend the PreShift Briefings at 7am and 7:30am for all WBS Subcontractors
Chair the 4pm Daily Coordination Meeting with all other Supervisors and
Engineers
Attend weekly meeting with the Sub Agent to be briefed on the 3WLA
Attend the fortnightly Butty Briefing meeting
General
Liaising with LU Inspectors and multiple Subcontractors
Assist in the coordination between Subcontractors on site to maximise
production works
Produce the preshift briefing ready for the next shift after the coordination
meeting
Assist Site Supervisors in the production and briefing of Tool Box talks and other
safety briefings
