Site Engineer Rail / Civil engineering Location – Site based – Wales (Cardiff)
An exciting opportunity for experienced Site Engineer to join our clients team in the Wales region working on a portfolio of rail and civil engineering projects including both framework / contract agreements and Capital Delivery tendered projects.
As Site Engineer, you would be part of a busy and fast paced business unit involving a range of civil engineering works in a variety of sectors to include rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.), Environment Agency, Local Authority etc.
The business unit is involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects across the Wales region, whether one off tendered projects or projects within our long term framework / contract agreements with key clients. Existing contracts include CP6 infrastructure projects, minor works and Environment Agency frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all etc.), structures including bridges, tunnels and footbridges.
As Site Engineer, you will be reporting to the designated Site Agent / Project Manager and will be accountable for the weekly planning of site based works typically being delivered during the week and on a weekend night/shift basis.
Hours of work - Monday to Friday with frequent weekend and night shift working for delivery of works on site, in possession environments.
Day to day responsibilities • Site Safety, Health Environmental and Quality responsibilities for all site activities • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications for site based activity / engineering. • Setting out and surveying works on site • Ensuring that site engineering is carried out in a professional, systematic and accurate manner. • Supervision of works on site including labour, plant and subcontractors. • Keeping accurate records, including a diary, of all site activities. • Taking off and ordering of materials. • Daily and weekly planning of site works being carried out at weekend/night possession shifts including assisting in the production of Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans, Inspection Test Plans and other documentation. • Day to day management of sub-contractors and engineers as required Requirements
Must haves - you will have previous experience as a Site Engineer with Setting Out experience having worked on civil engineering projects or element of a multi-disciplinary project in the rail sector.
Qualifications: • Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering • PTS (rail) Experience: • Setting out experience • Experience in the weekly planning of the delivery of site works including production and review of associated Inspection Test Plans, Work Package Plans and Task Briefs. • Desirable to be working towards professional qualifications i.e. CEng, MAPM
