BID Manager in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom
My Client, a Leading Tier 1 Contractor within the rail sector are looking for an experienced BID Manager to lead the work winning process of Projects by ensuring the delivery of professional quality bids to maximise the number of opportunities within our chosen market sector.
To be successful for this position, we are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years experience BID Managing rail infrastructure of civil engineering tenders. Experience in taking overall responsibility for the preperation of tender and managing a BID team including - cost estimate, programme, technical solution, written deliverables, presenting for governance, post tender negotiation to award, handover to project team.
The Bids will vary in value anywhere from £10m to £250m.
This post requires the ability to close contracts by successfully negotiating with clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee bid management, making recommendations/taking action where necessary to ensure bid submissions are of optimum quality, and meet both ITT and Group requirements.
- Be the primary point of contact between my client throughout the tender phase and probably post tender through to the win/lose decision.
- Maintain a close relationship with the Business Development Team to maintain awareness and knowledge of all incoming tender invitations.
- Ensure the timely completion of pre-qualification submissions to the professional quality expected from a leading construction contractor.
- Lead the process for the selection of individual Bid Teams and oversee the individual bid preparation process ensuring that the team are aware of requirements and timescales.
- Assess and provide gap analysis on the competency of incumbent bidding staff and coach and mentor the Bid Management and Production function.
- Develop and mentor the Projects Development Officer to ensure quality Pre-Qualification Documents are produced.
- Liaise with senior team members of our chosen partners in the preparation of joint venture bids.
- Liaise with each of the Regional Commercial Managers/Pre-Contract Commercial Director to ensure full commercial and contractual analysis of every bid.
- Maintain knowledge of the Group supplier database and liaise with the Procurement Team to ensure that the select list includes movement in the market place.
- Full compliance with the Group HSQE Standards.
- Identify and report the agreed key performance indicators for tender performance.
- Assist the Bid Director to develop and lead the functional procedures to achieve a continual improvement in the tender performance.
