The Company
This dynamic and friendly Organisation is a major supplier of transportation vehicle systems for organisations in the UK and Overseas, this includes air conditioning equipment and safety control systems. They also provide turnkey solutions for Large OEM's across the world.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be a highly experienced Bid / Tenders professional from the rolling stock, automotive or aerospace sector, with experience of managing the full bid process, commercials and calculations. You’ll be managing a small team of Bid Coordinators, who’ll help you manage bids from £10k to over £20M. You’ll be a self-motivated and proactive team player, with the ability to communicate with senior stakeholders within the Organisation.
The Role
You will have a drive to take ownership of all ascpects of winning bids to secure future work. You’ll be defining winning bid strategies including gap analysis against current business capability, skill and experience. Actively manage the Opportunity Pipeline of the business and coordinate the requirements of the opportunities with the functional teams for timing, strategy, resource and development of capabilities. To ensure that all PQQ’s, ITT’s and bids are subjected to a continuous Go/No-Go process. To ensure that all bid submissions made are fully mandated both locally and where required by Group and its defined procedures, including the incorporation of the target financial cash flow and Gross Margin levels (as agreed during the bid Go/No-Go and approvals process)
You will be reporting to the Sales & Commercial Director, but also leading, nurturing and adapting the Bids team to support the achievement of the company strategy.
The Requirements

Good level of understanding and knowledge of the UK rail industry.

Full working knowledge of Project phases and timelines.

Strong commercial awareness (in addition to financial).

Experience in rolling stock systems and products.

Applicable industry standards well understood at macro level.

A good understanding of the structure of the rail industry in general, including the franchising timetable and shortlisted bidders.

Excellent people manager with highly developed interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical skills.

Highly persuasive and motivational ins style with both internal staff and customers.

Effective written communication skills.

The ability to negotiate with customers on financial matters and to make agreements.
