Mane are recruiting for a CEM (Contractors Engineering Manager) to work in Scotland on a permanent basis. Your duties as a CEM will be to provide the technical assurance for all technical and engineering aspects of project works. You will be Responsible for delivery of safe, buildable design solutions for a portfolio of rail schemes or key major rail projects, delivering on time and within budget working with the relevant project management throughout the life cycle of the projects.
Key elements of the role as a Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) will be to provide support as required throughout the whole design cycle and ensure the design process has been completed compliantly by chairing IDC meetings and attending design review meetings as and when as dictated by the technical requirements of the project.
You must ensure deliverables have undergone adequate review for buildability and risk management as well as carrying out periodic reviews of Construction Phase Plans and Environmental Management Plans and look critically at process's in order approve and endorse H&S documentation prior to submissions.
You must provide support the various contracting teams by providing technical guidance and best practice in specialist disciplines and maintain close working relationships with Construction Management and Engineering Teams to ensure engineering deliverables are maintained on site.
It will be key to Provide support to Project Management teams as well in the assessment and production of programming and technical planning and provide a consistent approach across projects within the portfolio in design, feedback on design consultant performance and best value.
Support in the recruitment and appointment of design consultants and carry out the evaluation of client remints and / or CT-R documentation to ascertain the correct levels of design deliverables and the identification of multi-disciplinary interfaces. Produce design scope documentation and carry out assessment of consultant CRT schedules.
Mentoring and coaching on company procedures such as QITP, Permit to Dig, Lessons Learnt etc.This will also include developing the CRE and CEM capability within the client by providing Continuous Professional Development, mentorship, coaching and guidance to both candidates and peers alike. You will also provide support to senior management by way of effective feedback and communication of your daily activities.
You will be Qualified to degree level, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or similar discipline and ideally be chartered.
You must have extensive experience of working within the rail industry with a high level of proven capability in rail standards, working environments, governance, H&S and engineering protocols.You must also have effective communication skills and be able to lead and influence team and good working practice.
