Location: Remote – Primarily working from home office, but with travel to key sites once or twice a fortnight. Key sites are in Crewe, Carlisle, Warrington & Motherwell.

NTS has been created from the merger of three transport entities – INS, DRS and PNTL. A new strategy has been created for NTS and the three business lines of shipping, rail and solutions. This has identified the need for a time limited appointment of a Business Change Manager with the relevant experience to support a highly complex 3 year modernisation programme in our rail business, alongside driving other integration activities. This role is one of a range of temporary positions within a time limited Transformation Team, whose work is co-ordinated by an Interim Transformation Director. The Business Change Manager will report to a Business Change Lead and will be required to liaise effectively with substantive teams across the business depending on the project portfolio, especially across the rail business.
As a Change Manager your main responsibilities would be:
Key Accountabilities:
• Design and implement business change plans for individual projects within the transformation portfolio in a way which encourages adoption of new ways of working with minimal impact on business as usual
• Deploy targeted change management strategies and tools appropriate to the context and audiences for each project, developing change impact assessments and interventions to mitigate those impacts
• Ensure all business change communication and engagement interventions increase levels of engagement and involvement in change at NTS
• Support the development of internal change agents in NTS to assist with knowledge transfer and broader capability building
• Ensure the delivery of all change plans to time, cost and quality standards agreed for each project and in a way which enables our cultural blueprint
You’ll have relevant experience in:
Worked on large transformation change projects
Able to self-manage / take ownership of multiple projects
Communication writing Training planning and delivery experience
Key Attributes, Knowledge and Skills:
• At least 5 years’ experience of successfully developing change impact assessments and interventions as part of transformation programmes that have delivered tangible outcomes and benefits, enabling cultural change
• Experience of operating in multi-disciplinary project teams, able to influence key stakeholders so that change activities are appropriately planned and resourced within project delivery, in a way that ensures change is sustainable at individual, team and organisational level
• Experience of supporting managers and leaders in supporting their people through changes and transitions
• The ability to translate technical changes into non-technical language which is easy for everyone to understand
• Experience of the design and delivery of guidance documentation and training to end users
Experience of the development of measures of success for change, and in assessing progress against these
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders, from our senior leaders through to front line employees
• A natural inclination to drive momentum with pace and energy across the transformation portfolio
• Performance objectives will be set in accordance with outcomes required across the transformation portfolio
• BPSS clearance will be required
