Commissioning Manager

Role Purpose

  • Supports, where appropriate, all technical and commercial aspects of the mechanical and electrical installation on the projects, ensure that operations on site are carried out in a safe manner and ensure that the company’s business processes are followed in carrying out the construction project
  • Maintain good client relationships on the project
  • Must be fully conversant in Power commissioning on London Underground and / or Network Rail
  • Electrical knowledge of control and protection systems for traction power
  • Factory Inspection Testing of bespoke Low Voltage switchgear and control panels
  • Must be conversant on London Underground systems and policies

Accountabilities

  • Communication of all necessary information including contract conditions, specifications, drawings, work instructions and company policies and procedures.
  • Supervision and motivation of project team, including training /development and maintaining good industrial relations throughout.
  • Establish a productive and harmonious working relationship with the Client.
  • Ensure the efficient production of the engineering through to installation information in accordance with project conditions and requirements, taking account of the CDM and other statutory regulations and the client’s safety, quality and programme requirements. Ensure the efficient operation of company test and inspection policies and procedures, aid and assist in producing accurate and current reports.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of installation, testing and commissioning in accordance with the agreed installation methodology to programme requirements and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Contribute to the progress and productivity reports weekly and monthly in accordance with company procedures.
  • Cooperate and assist in the safety, quality and financial audits performed during the course of the project.

Personal Qualities and Experience

The requirements of the role are as follows:

  • Significant management experience within the construction or relevant support services industries, together with a strong understanding of technical issues and trends in the traction and or power sectors
  • The individual should ideally have experience of traction power supply systems for rail or have previously had design experience with low voltage to medium voltage switchboard design.
  • The individual will ideally hold a degree in an appropriate discipline (a minimum of HNC / ONC or equivalent in a relevant subject is expected) or similar.
  • Corporate membership of a professional body is desirable
  • Evidence of recent management/leadership development is desirable

An HNC in Contracting Management (or equivalent) is desirable
