We have an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join our award-winning in-house team at LNER, leading our stakeholder engagement across Scotland.
LNER's Communications Manager – Scotland is our key interface with our Scottish regions, and their elected and senior stakeholders.
You will deliver a programme of proactive stakeholder engagement with Scottish organisations, media and elected representatives. This role is a key liaison within Scotland and the wider Communications team, to ensure Scottish stakeholder and media considerations are well represented.
What will the Communications Manager be responsible for?
- Representing LNER with key Scottish stakeholders, with the goal of strengthening relationships and ensuring a smooth information flow between those stakeholders and relevant LNER teams
- Supporting senior colleagues in engaging with these forums and senior external personnel, including providing advice and briefing materials to support their engagement
- Ensuring the communications team is sufficiently aware of developments in the region – with both stakeholders and media – working with colleagues to produce communications content as required
- Engaging with others in the rail industry to build productive relationships to support the alignment of industry positions
- Working closely with LNER's media team as part of LNER's Press Office on-call rota, and to deliver media plans in Scotland.

You'll be a seasoned communications professional, able to hit the ground running and quickly get to grips with LNER's narrative.
You'll also need:
- Stakeholder engagement experience is essential
- Knowledge or interest in rail or transport policy is desirable
- Excellent influencing skills, experience of lobbying elected representatives at all levels
- Strong knowledge of the Scottish political landscape
- Knowledge of Scottish media landscape
- Experience of drafting media releases, editorials and working in a busy press office
- Knowledge of Holyrood and Westminster practices
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
The role is based in our Edinburgh office and will require travel to engage with stakeholders across the LNER route.
