Do you want to work on a high- profile project in the rail industry like Wales and Borders?
Here at Amey we support the multi-billion-pound contract to run the Wales and Borders train service and to develop the Cardiff Central Metro. We will work closely with TfW to deliver a new era for passengers and for Wales, with more services, newer trains, better stations and a more reliable network. We will continue to provide support to TfW Ltd in delivering key projects such as the introduction of new rolling stock and the construction of the £738m South Wales Metro (SWM) transport project, a planned multi-modal transport system, which incorporates trains, light rail and bus services.
What is the purpose of this role?
To assist the Project Manager in delivering the allocated contract safely in accordance with legislation and Amey procedures to contract specification and programme, while effectively supervising and delivering the approved construction programmes to the agreed resource and cost plans.
What will this role involve?
- To promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below
- Responsible for the submission of accurate site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable
- Ensure that tool box talks, task briefs and method statements are briefed out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts
- Ensure that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working
- Responsible for ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices
- Responsible for ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely off–hire
- Supervise sub contractors, contract staff and direct labour for allocated site activities
- Carry out performance reviews for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable
- Undertake PDRs and staff development of direct reports where applicable
- The role is one of site supervision and based generally in a site environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time).
- Responsible for programming works in line with the integrated P6.
- Collating mitigation for delays to works
What are we looking for?
(Essential to the job)
- The ability to supervise and lead the site team in the successful delivery of the allocated contracts for specific discipline, structures, steel work and civils
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team
- Experience of steel framed buildings and related building and civils works
- Supervisory Management training / qualification with significant practical experience
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Knowledge of Risk Assessment techniques
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Capacity to learn and take on further responsibility
- Willingness to undertake training

- Understanding of the Railway operating environment
- NEBOSH or SMSTS
