Construction Manager

My client is currently recruiting a Construction Managerwith Rail/Station experience to join their team on a major HS2 station build in Birmingham.

The successful Construction Manager will be responsible for:

  • Supervise the construction works on site, instructing construction related personnel to ensure quality, timely and safe work practices.
  • Ensure safe execution of the work at all times and manage construction teams productivity on site.
  • Enforce the instructed methods of construction as defined in the method statements and procedures, ensuring best safe practices during all operations.
  • Plan and supervise the short term site works: requirements and requisitions, deliveries, installations, utilities…
  • Produce 1 week look ahead detailed programs.
  • Monitor the relevant construction works including:
  • Establish records: checklist and registers for the equipment and plant on site.
  • Checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification. To include adequate checks on subcontractor materials
  • Ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
  • Support the site personnel during the execution of the works.
  • Ensure that the area is clear once works are completed.
  • Produce and maintain daily record of progress of all construction activities on site (including personnel attendances, equipment problems, safety issues and improvements).
  • Ensure compliance with requirements outlined in the Construction Management Plan and relevant WIs.
  • Management and coordinate subcontractor’s works and associated documentation, ensuring effective use of materials and control of waste.

My client requires the Construction Manager to have:

  • Construction Site Manager NVQ Level 4 (or similar)
  • Demonstrable years’ experience in a similar role in Construction sites and similar activities.
  • Have demonstrable good managerial, motivational, planning, team building and leadership skills.
  • Have an excellent track record of project delivery - safely, to timescale, quality and cost.
  • Computer skills
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid in the Workplace Qualification
  • Fire Marshal
