Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Our client are a national contractor who have a full order book for 2019 and require the services of a hardworking, experienced and competent CEM.

THE ROLE

The CEM reviews all products, materials, equipment, infrastructure and other systems to be utilised to ensure compliance on both Rail and multi-disciplinary contracts.

  • The CEM shall approve all CRE's.
  • Implement design management tools and champion the alignment of process to rail and depot requirements.
  • The CEM shall implement an IDC process or utilise an IDC process implemented by another organisation as agreed for the project for all design documentation which has an interface with other engineering disciplines.
  • Where separate CRE (Design) and CRE (Construction) are appointed for the same discipline the CEM is accountable for defining and documenting the split of responsibilities between the two interfacing CREs.
  • Co-ordinating the design interfaces.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Drive value, buildability and innovation into the design development.
  • Ensuring that the design complies with all applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements and specifications.
  • Manage the TQ process.
  • Ensure designs comply with Works Information (nothing more, nothing less)
  • Liaising with the Client on all design matters.
  • Ensure buildability reviews on all designs are carried out.
  • Ensure Hazops / CSM's are carried out with Operators.
  • Manage and write the DMP.
  • Manage the 'Design Approval Process' including technical submissions and written approvals.
  • Manage and write the CSM Plan and process

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree with Hons
  • Network Rail Approved CEM
  • Significant rail experience
