CEM (Contractors Engineering Manager)

Location – Derby

Salary -£70k - £75k (dependent upon experience) plus benefits

Purpose

1. Manage the production of deliverables and maximisation of margins in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets. This also includes proactively developing relationships with clients and their representatives in order to identify, develop and maximise business opportunities.
2. Ensuring inter-disciplinary checks to demonstrate designs are fully integrated an compliant to contract requirements
3. Represent the Engineering Team at client stakeholder reviews, including inter-disciplinary reviews and System Review Panels
4. Approval of all engineering documentation to demonstrate that the solution has been designed,built and tested to the agreed standards
5. Approval of all Health and Safety documentation associated with implementation work
6. Ensure designs fully satisfy all contractual requirements
7. Assurance related deliverables to meet the requirements of Client safety and assurance processes
8. Approval of all Health and Safety method statements, including Construction Phase Plans
9. Approval of Test Strategies that demonstrate the integrated systems deliver the required function and performance
10. Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 regulations

Key Tasks

• Demonstrating a consistently high standard of Health and Safety leadership and behaviour.
• Fulfilling the Contract Manager’s responsibilities as laid down in the Health and Safety Responsibility Statement HSRS 004.
• Delivery of multiple contracts within programme and budget.
• Guide clients through the technical decision-making process and provide alternative solutions if there are changes to project parameters.
• The development of positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract.
• Liaising with client’s representatives to ensure client requirements are clearly understood, resourced and implemented on time and to budget.
• Ensuring that Project Delivery Teams are fully apprised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.
• Ensuring that contracts are executed in accordance with the requirements of all applicable legislation, the T&Cs of the contract, the contract HSQE and the company’s policies/procedures.
• The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure that contract objectives are being met.
• Controlling the “close-out” of contracts to ensure that all activities required to be completed are completed in accordance with the Contract and to the client’s satisfaction
• Full participation in all aspects of enquiry and project processes including pre-qualification, estimating, design, contract negotiation, contract delivery and close out.
• Proactive promotion of the Company and its capabilities to clients, including the development of an appropriate contact network.
• The identification of business development opportunities and ensuring that any such opportunities are communicated and proactively progressed in conjunction with the appropriate Business Development Executive/Director.

• The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.

• Build strong working relationships with other teams and technical disciplines.
• Provide specialised technical input to design and documentation, where required.
• Develop and propose potential solutions, including solutions that fall outside the standard codes where appropriate, to meet or exceed client expectations.
• Resolve differences of opinion between designers, checkers and reviewers.
• Influence the performance of team members and sub-contractors to deliver the project's objectives.
