Are you a strong leader with knowledge of Railway Control Centres? TXM Recruit are working with a transport service in London who are looking for several Control Centre Managers, who thrive under pressure, can deal with incidents and are able to communicate all the way up to the MD.

Key Accountabilities
- Out of normal hours the post holder is the senior operating official on duty.
- Ensure on shift the safe operation of the railway in accordance with current legislation, policies, standards and procedures
- Direct and control shift operations, including all control room and operational functions to ensure the train service operates to timetable and is properly regulated to provide the customers with a safe and efficient service.
- Utilise the resources of all operational staff whilst on shift.
- Monitor, report and act on issues affecting operational performance
- Ensure incidents and delays are dealt with safely, speedily and with minimum disruption. Undertake on-going review of incidents as they develop, taking decisions to improve the handling of the incident by directing resources as necessary and recommending courses of action. Liaise with external departments and emergency services. Investigate incidents and events as required.
- Ensure that staff and customers are kept fully informed of any operational incidents or associated service variation affecting customer service by monitoring and directing performance of information assistants.
- Monitor, report and act on issues of asset reliability so as to minimise the effect of equipment failures on service performance.
- Provide input into the preparation of detailed train schedules / timetable requirements to meet business objectives and service targets.
- Manage the deployment, performance and duty allocations of Control room staff on shift. Lead, motivate and encourage the shift team. Monitor and control all aspects of Competence Management for Control Room staff
- Provide coverage for the Control Centre General Manager as required.
- Produce and review operational and failure management procedures and contingency plans.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
- An experienced manager with detailed understanding and working knowledge of control centre safety rules, regulations and emergency procedures and an understanding of relevant legislation.
- Successful experience of incident management at strategic and tactical level
- Proven strategic leadership skills and experienced people manager, who is decisive and capable of working under extreme pressure
- Able to compile and manage the implementation of service requirements during emergency situations or circumstances.
- Railway control centre experience.
- A working understanding of rolling stock, signalling and control room functions
- A holistic and geographical understanding of the railway which enables rapid management of the incident and minimises impacts more widely to the network
