Mane are recruiting for a Depot Manager to work in Glasgow. Reporting to the national operations manager you will provide day to day management of all depot operations ensuring customers expectations are fulfilled in a timely and cost effective manner whilst ensuring compliance to current procedures/legislation.
Operations
*Management of supervisory staff to focus on areas in operational compliance, productivity and financial control of depot costs.
*Provide appropriate leadership of supervisory staff to develop and continually improve their performance.
*Attend monthly one to one meetings with the National Operations Manager.
*Hold meetings at least monthly with supervisory staff to ensure focus on business needs is maintained.
*Attend meetings as required by the National Operations Manager.
*Review worksheets pre & post-shift to ensure most effective and efficient use of resource and that any necessary actions are implemented within 24 hours.
*Carry out a review of the Weekly Operations Pack and ensure that any necessary resultant actions are taken.
*Carry out a minimum of one site visit per month, ensuring that any resultant actions are taken/followed up and that the appropriate documentation is completed and forwarded to the Compliance team.
*Produce Monthly Report on Depot KPIs.
*To provide On Call coverage on a periodic basis.
*Provide assistance to other Depots, as required.
Finance
*Review all applicable finance reports and ensure costs are controlled in line with Company guidelines.
*Identify areas where potential efficiencies can be made and review with the National Operations Manager.
Company Property
*Ensure control of Company premises such that they are correctly laid out in accordance with Company guidelines to maximise efficiency and are maintained in appropriate condition.
*Ensure weekly vehicle checks are carried out on both owned and 'spot-hire' vehicles.
*Ensure that Company assets are controlled/stored/handled in a manner that reduces risk of injury, loss and damage. Carry out regular Stock checks, ensuring that any discrepancies are fully investigated and concluded.
Health, Safety & Environment/Compliance
*Ensure the Health, Safety and welfare of personnel under your control is in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy and QUENSH manual.
*Carry out monthly inspections of all activities under your sphere of responsibility, ensuring that all applicable corrective and preventative actions are taken.
*Carry out briefings as required to all applicable staff in the timeframes stipulated.
*Continually strive for improvement and promote this culture within the team.
*Ensure all Company documentation under your remit is appropriately maintained and is available and easily accessible to all applicable staff.
When it is considered necessary or appropriate by Senior Management you may be required to carry out any other duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business. This includes providing managerial coverage at other depots, as/when required.
Academic qualifications:
?Educated to a reasonable level
?Basic numeracy and literacy skills
?Business Studies Diploma or equivalent (preferable)
?IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (preferable)
?Holder of PTS Certificate
?Clean Driving licence
Knowledge/background:
*Knowledge of the Railway Infrastructure/geographic area/rail plant/hire business.
*Knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering (preferable)
*Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including word, excel and powerpoint
*Heath/Safety/Environmental Management
*Experienced at communicating critical information to all levels within the business
*Knowledge of budgeting/cost control processes
*City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 in mechanical and/or electrical engineering. (preferable)
*Experienced Manager of resources.
-Salary range between £38K - £50K (maximum for outstanding candidate).
-Bonus of up to £10K per annum.
-Options to join the company SAYE scheme.
-Company car and fuel card. Car is a company Band D car so Insignia or similar type.
-Company pension.
-22 days + 8 statutory holidays per annum.
