Are you and experienced Depot Manager looking for a new challenge, to be part of an exciting engineering team working on a new rail fleet? Ford & Stanley, the rail recruitment experts, are recruiting a Depot Manager to join our client's depot based in Leeds
We are working with one of the most renowned Train Operating Companies in the country in appointing a Depot Manager who will inherit a busy depot managing over 200 depot staff delivering light and heavy maintenance activities on a range of fleets.
Key Responsibilities:
The Depot Production Manager is pivotal to the running of the depot, leading and directing the depot Production and Movements staff through the Production Delivery Managers. As well as developing a strong and productive relationship with the technical support staff to achieve the significant performance targets and deliver high performance improvements.
- Ensure that work schedules are co-ordinated to deliver performance improvement plans and depot production plans.
- Standard operations for examination workloads will be defined and developed for Teams to ensure fleet availability is consistently robust.
- Ensure the staff work in partnership to deliver the high-class fleet availability every day
- Continual improving reliability and performance as laid down in the TSSSA contract.
- Ensure that material is available for planned vehicle work programs and on a contingency basis in an efficient and economical manner
- To ensure a safe working environment and maintenance of Technical and Safety standards.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Have the ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Review, recommend and plan depot projects that can give ownership at relevant level of organisation with an aim to improving fleet performance.
- Demonstrate the ability to how you can motivate and empower team members to deliver continuous improvements in work processes, productivity and standards to exceed customer expectations.
- You will have experience in development and implementation of work schedules and rosters to co-ordinate vehicles movements to deliver agreed Depot workload plans consistent with achieving most effective use of Depot facilities and resources.
Key areas of the role include:
- Ensure train delivery to customers on-time, to cost and quality standards
- Lead, support, and motivate the depot team to meet service and safety requirements
- Performance improvement through customer relationship management
- Professional management of contracts for supplier's services
- Lead the development of business improvement processes, optimising profitability
- Lead site development, facilities maintenance, budget management and forecasting
Candidates should be educated to degree standard or equivalent with managerial experience in rolling stock production including financial, contracts and employment management. Personal skills should include motivation, negotiation, leadership, and development.
