About the role:
Here at Northern we call our Depot Managers, Train Care Centre Manager and right now, we’re working hard to improve and modernise our Neville Hill Train Centre and the way we work there. It’s a transformational change for the depot, which means we’re looking for a strong and collaborative leader with the confidence and credibility to take us on that journey.
It’s a senior role and you’ll be responsible for leading, managing, motivating, and energising both the depot leadership team and its workforce. It’s about meeting quality and performance targets across servicing, maintenance, and repairs of Northern’s traction and rolling stock, while developing and driving specific depot projects.
Day to day, you’ll focus on improving the safety culture performance across the centre. You’ll work towards increased fleet reliability and availability. And you’ll build and promote a culture of continuous improvement while implementing performance-driven changes to the depot’s organisational structure.
About you:
What’s most important is that you already have a background in depot management, along with experience of railway vehicle engineering and production management. You’ll also have an engineering degree or be working towards one, together with a NEBOSH Certificate and ideally some managerial qualifications.
Above all, you’ll be a capable communicator and problem solver. You’ll have what it takes to make sound engineering and budgetary decisions. And you’ll be someone who can influence and inspire people across our business.
